Ariana Grande’s fans have been not-so-patiently waiting for new music ever since the end of the singer’s 3-leg Sweetener World Tour. While many big names in pop music such as Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga have released new music this year, Grande has been only been teasing us with a few collaborations. So while we sit around waiting for AG6, why not fantasize about it?
We’ll be making a “mood board” for AG6, which means going over some albums or songs that we hope the album will sound like. Spoiler alert: we want full-on R&Biana. Ariana Grande: if you’re reading this, WE WANT NEW MUSIC!!

Ctrl by SZA
SZA changed R&B music when she released her album Ctrl in 2017. The album contains guitar ballads like “Supermodel,” R&B bangers like “Garden (Say It Like That)” and you’ve probably heard “Love Galore” featuring Travis Scott in a fancam on Twitter. We hope that Grande will be inspired by this masterpiece of an album and include some pure R&B tracks on AG6. Also, a SZA feature would be very much appreciated!
Songs For You by Tinashe
Tinashe's 2019 project Songs For You is another amazing R&B album. It has tracks that spread across the R&B spectrum, from the funky “Perfect Crime” to the R&B ballad “Touch & Go” to the trap banger “Link Up,” which Grande posted a screenshot of her listening to when the album was released. This means that the pop star has definitely listened to the album and was hopefully inspired by it… but we can only hope. In fact, Tinashe has recently said that she would love to collaborate with Grande, so hopefully, the two artists will team up to create the R&B song of the century.
“in my head” by Ariana Grande
The world first got a glimpse of R&Biana in 2019 when she released her fifth album thank u, next and we were immediately in love. While the album was filled with classic pop bangers like the title track and… well, that’s really it… one of the highlights of the album was “in my head.” The combination of Grande’s stellar vocals, the vulnerable lyrics (which are presumably about her ex-fiancee Pete Davidson) and the R&B-trap production make for a near-perfect song and we hope that Grande continues to raise the bar with AG6. Let’s be real, her only competition is herself at this point.
Life After Love Pt. 1 by Victoria Monet
As we said in our article about Victoria Monet, she has definitely made a name for herself in the music industry as a songwriter. Even though she’s co-written some of Grande’s biggest pop hits, she’s also released some amazing solo music. Her 2018 EP Life After Love Pt. 1 is a collection of pure R&B perfection, with tracks like “Ten New Friends” and “Freak.” We can only hope that Monet is involved in the making of AG6 and that the two artists will create more magic together.
In conclusion, it would be an understatement to say that we’re all excited for Ariana Grande’s next album. 2021 will be the year of Ariana Grande!
